Whilst waiting for my local dealer to spray my 2010 S1K workhorse with ACF spent some time looking at the HP4. Salesguy pointed out how the swingarm pivot mounts have changed and moved the swingarm up by a few mm. On my bike the hole for the swingarm pivot is in the middle of the bracket, on the HP4 its slightly higher and this along with the slightly swept forward top yoke shortens the wheelbase.

Apparently the brackets are interchangeable - anyone else know about this or played with it?
 
I thought all the 2012 bikes had changed geometry from the older original bikes?
 
Whilst the swingarm etc is the same regardless of year,the '12 mount is a different shape because the frame is machined differently.

I would imagine the '12 mounting could be modified to fit,however,it is highly unlikely to fit straight in.
Also,if you could fit it,it would raise the rear by 4mm if you kept the standard shock,although there is some adjustment on Ohlins etc.(about 2mm)

As previously stated,the 2010/11 shock is 4mm longer than the 2012 shock.
In the case of the OE shock there is no adjustment in overall length.If you fitted a '12 shock to an earlier bike you would ideally need to flip the top mount.Obviously,if you had already done it then you would lose 4mm(and the reverse is true with a 10/11 shock on a 12 bike).

As before,most aftermarket shocks have some adjustment on the lower mount though in the case of the Ohlins there is only about 2mm.

HP4 is different because of the internal electronics and potentiometer.
