Looking at some race/track fairings for next year some say you need a front bracket others dont mention any brkt at all. Not having had the front right off do you lose mounting points by fitting these fairings?

All the ones I've had fit onto the standard front bracket. You need that(or an aftermarket race bracket)
because you need to retain the air intake duct and support the clocks.

Some fairings are one piece plus bellypan, others are 3 piece(copied off the originals)plus bellypan.

Depending on the fairing, you may need lower mounting brackets or spacers.

Most should be a direct fit to stock, the aftermarket mount is lighter but I would prefer keeping the stock unit as its stiffer.

Don't mean to hyjack your thread - but it is along similar lines.......I have some jap 4 carbon bits on the bike at the minute - replaced the original tank side and badge holder panels - but have never really been happy with the quality,,,,,saying that, I know you only get what you pay for - but at the same time cannot justify the ilmberger cost (can't justify it to myself never mind the missus!)

Has anyone seen 'The king carbon' or carbonin parts in the flesh - are they any good?

Cheers peeps.

Iv been through a few track fairngs this year. The best by far are the Alpha Racing ones. They are expensive but the quality is second to none. Race Products do a good S1000 fairing too.

Don't buy CRC fairings, I had nothing but trouble with them. The worst fitting fairings Iv ever had. We're £600 too.

!!!! oh dear :( Seriously tho, on that basis, does it matter that they are cheap? Not being tight but i could spend the excess elsewhere? I need to get out of my head of costing a lot of money watching if it went down the road without me  (cosmetically) i'm sure thats one of the things holding me back.

When I say Iv been through a few fairngs, I haven't crashed. Iv bought and sold various fairngs to find the best ones lol

Alpha Racing, Race Products. There is a place on eBay that's sells S1000rr fairngs from Germany. Good quality for not a lot of money. A pal got some painted up for a Toesland rep. Look very trick

First time I've heard anything bad about CRC.
Used the german ebay fairings on another bike, cheap, thin & needed sorting to get them to fit but OK for the price.

I bought the crc tank surround and tail piece. It is crap. Poor fit and my hand went straight through the tail piece when taking the bike off the sidestand.

Yeah, but I bet you went quicker with all that weight loss!!!!

Thought all the top teams were using profibre or CRC, very surprised they are that bad. Thought I'd made a decision on the fairings, might need a rethink.

A few top teams did use CRC as the UK distributor is a STK1000 rider. I'm guessing he punted them out at cost to get the name out. All the S1000's Iv seen this year haven't been using the CRC stuff. You can tell it a mile off. All other CRC Fairings for other models are really good. S1000 is proper poo.

Do you know if he had to buy any other fixings like a front bracket? I plan to use origonal clocks etc

Saw a CRC fairing on a 2011 S1000RR race bike at Croft, bloke was happy with it & said it fitted well & crashed well. Thought they looked different in Black & was going to leave it self coloured. May need to look at profibre again or the cheap german one.

Wonder why CRC can't make a decent fairing for the S1000RR, what's so different about the bike?
