Been reading and posting on here... definitely missed this... wtf! The reservoir should sit just behind where his hand is...

Technically if the bikes in top form and not using coolant then it doesn't need a resivoir. It's literally just to suck coolant in, so really you could run a blocked off pipe.

But vacuum maybe an issue.

It's not a reservoir, it's an header (expansion) tank. As the coolant heats up and the pressure increases (pressure increase is needed to raise the boiling point of the coolant) there needs to be room for the coolant to expand. That's why you never fill the header to the top or you end up with coolant running out the over flow pipe until it finds it's level.

I seen that you were on that Kawasaki forum as well Stu, it's full of headcases. I had some guy telling me that I was doing the valve clearances wrong on the ZXR and that it doesn't have shims. I stopped posting on there after that.
Other ZXR "experts" also on there saying that the way the manual illustrates to carry out the valve clearance checks are wrong. Unreal.

Of course but I thought it would give us all a laugh... theres some ridiculous advice on it and some really good stuff, the spark plug walk through with pics was outstanding.. it's a Red Necks paradise!

You do see some mental advice on forums alright.

Most racebikes have no coolant tank. Just a small blow off catch tank.

Remember the lad who cut holes in his zx10 frame to improve it.

That will make some good reading later.. 200 posts and a flame out..it merits starting at #1 good spot/memory..
