Hi All

A slightly late hello, as I've already posted elsewhere on the forum. Got mine in August, and its my first sports bike.

Seemed to get my bike about the same time Surrey police got their new toys - 2 mobile cameras (in a van and a car), so I'll have to concentrate super hard.... :)

See you out there

Rick

I bought the Bluefire with the sports pack (Does everyone get that? Sport pack that is, I know blue is not a popular choice...)

What did I get a sports bike? Seemed like the way to go, and I quite like the idea of trying track days.

Why did I get the bmw? i tried the Ninja and Fireblade initially, and thought Both were cool. then I thought I'd better try them all...which is a fun way to spend a few afternoons (or 20 minutes if were talking R1......do dealers really think you can decide in that time????). Was quite happy to wait until next spring and decide, but when I heard they were going to stop the Bluefire, I just knew I had to get one....

Nice choice mate, and yes almost everyone has the sports pack ;)

North London or Sarf?

Welcome to the forum buddy, tell us more about the Surrey police camera toys - anything you can share gratefully accepted.

Cheers and enjoy.

Not much I can say really. Saw one in Staines on the a308. It was parked on the grass, and I knew something odd was going on - 50mph dual carriageway, and no one parks there unless they've broken down. As I passed it it had signs on it saying exactly what it was. I'm pretty sure it was a taller van than the one I saw in Leatherhead a few days later. I think this one was more like an Escort van kind of thing. Both were white. The one in Staines was parked in full view, so your own fault if you get caught. The other one I didn't get quite as good a look at, because it was on the exit of a long tightish corner, and you couldn't see it going into it.

I have also seen a white BMW f800gs with blue lights on the front in south London! Again, only got a quick look at it, but apart from the lights the only thing was the pillion seat seemed to have a white cover over it, similar to my mates k5 gsx600. Not sure how that'd catch one of us misbehaving on her majesty's highways, so maybe it isn't a police vehicle...

I thought you meant they were deploying some special covert type of detection, these sound like the usual mobile units they have around from time to time. They do have a plain white f800 Guildford based so it may have been that one.

Cheers
